A 9-11
Poem
While the shocking unfolding
events of Sept. 11, 2001
stunned the media and the world,
thin crisp pure clouds of a morning sky
embraced intense fire and smoke of hate.
And within
the unseen world...
Angelic hosts ran to and fro
helping thousands of confused souls
merge towards a place called heaven,
aided by selfless Fire Fighter,
Police and EMS workers,
with wings of gold.
Whist a
survivor,
stunned and dazed
looks away
as if in a haze.
But then by grace
there came a break,
America! America!
God Shed His Light On Thee!
She turned,
and in an instant
the tears dried from her eyes
and thought...
Perhaps some how and
somewhere
beyond the vision of darkness
the unlearned
ignorant
will understand
that life is more precious than death,
and that love is more powerful than hate.

A 9-11 Statement
Man Or Coward?
A man will confront another man face to face to seek resolve of a
conflict,
or to bring an issue to light, but a coward motivated by
displaced anger
and fear attacks when you least suspect it. A coward enforses
irrational
behavior inflating his insecure ego by acting as judge and jury
on a person
or people he feels is responsible for his personal demise,
playing 'the
blame game'. Just like a man that is domesticly violent strikes
out at his
wife and children so a terrorist murders inoccent civilian
populations...

Behind the Brush
Born in 1962, my
mother had been diagnosed with severe
mental illness when I was 1. Inspired by the freedom I
found riding horses, I began drawing and painting them
at 4, it was a form of escapism I utilized to cope with
instability. After my parents divorced when I was 5, my
mother decided to move to Mexico, Spain, and Guatemala
to save money, and to gain in cultural experiences. My
artistic expressions began to shift from horses to animals
I saw, burros carring heavy loads with bloody wip marks,
starving dogs, and bulls dieing in bull fighting rings. I was
no stranger to nuglect, verbal, emotional, or sexual abuse,
and had been kidnapped at 11, inwardly I was in turmoil
struggling to hide my insecurities and related to tortured
animals as comrads, attempting to expose injustice by
giving them a voice through art.
